Replacement of SUMA Injection Blow Molding Machines
SUMA’s iB series is a well-regarded Taiwan-built IBM platform serving pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food packaging markets across Asia and beyond. Our European-style IBM machines cover the three most widely deployed iB-series tonnage classes — delivering higher injection weight across all three levels, stronger clamping force at two of the three, and a lower machine profile throughout.

Replacement Models — Three Listed Classes
Each card shows the SUMA model it replaces, a head-to-head injection weight comparison, key differentiating factors, and complete published specifications.
What Changes When You Replace SUMA
Significantly Higher Injection Weight
At all three listed classes, our machines deliver notably more injection weight per shot: +54% at 40T, +45% at 60T, and a variable advantage at 80T depending on SUMA’s screw configuration. This expands the range of bottle sizes and wall specifications achievable without stepping up to a larger machine.
Consistently Lower Machine Height
SUMA iB machines carry a consistent height of approximately 2.3 m across the 40T and 60T classes, and 2.6 m at the 80T class. Our equivalent machines stand at 1.7 m, 1.8 m, and 2.0 m respectively — reducing ceiling clearance requirements and installation complexity.
Higher Clamping Force at 40T and 80T
Our 40T-class machine delivers 400 KN vs. SUMA 40iB’s 386 KN (+4%), and our 80T-class delivers 800 KN vs. SUMA 85iB’s 720 KN (+11%). At the 60T class, our 600 KN slightly exceeds SUMA 65iB’s 580 KN (+3%).
Fixed-Screw Simplicity vs. SUMA’s Range Options
SUMA offers screw diameter ranges at several classes (e.g., 40–50 mm at 65iB, 50–60 mm at 85iB). Our machines offer up to two screw diameter options per class — providing a clear configuration choice while maintaining a simpler selection process.
Wider Mold Platen at 80T
At the 80T class, our mold platen is 800 × 400 mm vs. SUMA 85iB’s 700 × 400 mm — 14% wider in the length dimension. This allows more cavity columns and can increase total cavity count at the same bottle size.
Energy-Saving Pressurized Clamping
Our unique pressurized clamping structure means the booster cylinder does not participate in opening and closing movements. Combined with a dual hydraulic system on the 80T-class machine, energy consumption is 10–30% lower compared to conventional single-circuit hydraulic designs.

How to Choose the Right SUMA Replacement
SUMA's iB platform offers flexible screw diameter configurations at several tonnage classes — which can make direct replacement selection less straightforward than a fixed-spec platform. The following steps help identify the right class and configuration.
Identify Your SUMA Model Number
Locate the iB model designation on your existing SUMA machine (40iB, 65iB, 85iB, 135iB, or 175iB). This maps directly to a tonnage class. The three product pages on this site cover 40iB, 65iB, and 85iB.
Note Your SUMA Screw Configuration
SUMA 65iB and 85iB are available in two screw diameter configurations. Identify which screw your machine has, as this directly affects injection weight and shot volume. Match accordingly when selecting our screw diameter option.
Verify Injection Weight Requirements
For the 80T class specifically: SUMA 85iB with 60 mm screw reaches a maximum injection weight of 480 g, which exceeds our 80T-class machine's 466 g. If your production requires over 466 g per shot, confirm requirements with our engineering team before ordering.
Confirm Bottle Volume and Cavity Count
All three machines support 1–2,000 ml (the 40T class supports 1–1,500 ml). For high-volume small bottles, reference the cavity count guide by bottle size available on each product page — cavity count determines your cycle-level output.
Check Mold Platen and Ceiling Height
Our machines are consistently 0.5–0.6 m lower than equivalent SUMA iB models. If you are installing in a facility with a ceiling height constraint, verify our machine's installation height against your facility clearance. Mold platen dimensions are broadly similar at the 40T and 60T classes.
Consider Resin and Future Production Plans
Both platforms support standard pharmaceutical and cosmetic-grade resins. If you plan to introduce specialty materials (EVA, PCTG, high-clarity PS, or PLA) not currently run on your SUMA machine, confirm resin compatibility with our engineering team at quotation stage.
